Lexigraphs
We love these old letterpress wooden printing blocks! They date from between the middle of the 19th century to the middle of the last century and were used for printing circus posters, auction flyers, notices, advertisements and so forth. We clean the blocks of the worst of their accumulated grime, but leave the patina of history embedded over many years of use, before finishing them with the soft gleam of Danish Oil – this means that the blocks could still be used to print from. Each of the ‘Lexigraphs’ (from the Greek – drawing with words) is designed and assembled within a custom-made stained hardwood frame and is suitable for wall mounting or hanging. The Lexigraphs vary from 20 cm to 2 metres long and include functional pieces such as chalkboards, themed collages, and single initial pieces. Each piece is unique – contact us for an up-to-date stock list.
